Man armed with hammer smashed his way into a car at Mandurah train station

A PERSON is helping detectives with their inquiries after a carjacking at Mandurah train station by a man armed with a hammer.

Detectives are investigating a series of incidents in the area including an assault, armed robbery, and the theft of cars which took place on Monday, March 26.

About 8:30pm, a man was at a property in Mandurah when he assaulted a woman who is known to him with a weapon causing non-life-threatening injuries. The man fled the property.

Ten minutes later, the offender was at Mandurah train station when he approached a woman who had just got into her car.

He was unable to gain access to her car and used a hammer to smash a window to open the car door.

The victim exited her car and the offender drove off in it.

The car was found abandoned in Pinjarra.

Detectives are investigating an incident in Pinjarra in which a car was stolen from a residence.

No one was there at the time.

This car, a silver 1997 Ford Falcon Utility is yet to be found.

A 31-year-old man is currently in custody assisting with this investigation.
