TRAFFIC officers are investigating a crash between a motorcycle and a marked police car in Coodanup yesterday evening, Thursday, June 1.
About 6pm, police said they were driving south in the left hand lane of Mandurah Road, prior to Coodanup Drive when they were overtaken by a motorcycle travelling at excessive speed, without headlights or tail lights.
The driver of the police car activated lights and sirens, indicated, and after checking for traffic moved into the right hand lane.
At this time a black Kawasaki motorcycle has allegedly approached the rear of the police car at speed, braked heavily and clipped the rear-right side of the vehicle.
The motorcycle left the road into the middle median strip, slid along bushland and stopped on its side with the rider.
He was taken by St John’s Ambulance to Peel Health Campus.
The motorcycle was significantly damaged and seized by police.
The police car received a broken tail light and a damaged bumper.
Inquiries are ongoing and 38-year-old man from Singleton is helping police with inquiries.
