Man charged over alleged serious assault

A MAN has been charged after allegedly punching another man outside of a Mandurah post office.

Police allege at about 5.10pm on January 8, the 50-year-old man punched a 53-year-old man outside the post office on Sholl Street.

It is further alleged the punch caused the victim to fall backwards on the road and hit his head on the kerb.

Police said the victim was unconscious and suffered serious head injuries.

The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 50-year-old man from Pinjarra has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is next due to appear before the Mandurah Magistrates’ Court on January 31.
