Muffin Break franchisees Steve and Marion Wise unveiled the new store with a load of samples, giveaways and a visit from Muffin Man.

Steve Wise is unstoppable and at more than 60 years old, shows no signs of slowing down.

Formerly a businesses unit manager in the mining industry for 34 years, he took early retirement about two years ago.

But it took just a year off before he realised he was unsatisfied and craving a fresh challenge.

“You’re never too old to try something new,’’ he said.

“My wife and I have lived in Halls Head for many years, so the local community is really important to us and we are really excited to be operating a new business.’’

Well-known for her baking expertise, Marion Wise has produced various treats including slices, cakes and banana bread for local police stations. Now the couple are turning her culinary efforts to muffins and other baked goods.

“We are in each day baking people’s favourites,’’ Mr Wise said.

“Being a consumer for more than 60 years, I’m confident we have a good understanding of what the local people want.”

The Wises have been involved in community projects over the years, most recently lending their support to Bella’s Battle, a dog abandoned at Yarloop Police Station.
