A MAN exposed his penis to young girls and staff at a busy shopping centre, it was revealed in Mandurah Magistrates Court today.

Peter John Karow (61) pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent acts in public.

Police prosecutor Emma Houghton said Karow was at Mandurah Forum on March 3 and had his fly open and had “two to three inches of his penis” sticking out. He covered his penis with a T-shirt.

Karow approached a group of females, including a 17-year-old girl, and raised his T-shirt. He looked directly at the females with his penis exposed.

The court was told Karow continued walking around the shops and approached two lone females. He pulled up his T-shirt and exposed his penis. Karow looked back at the females as he walked away.

Karow was apprehended by security at City Beach, where staff saw his penis.

Sen Const Houghton said Karow was in the Mandurah Forum on October 7 and approached two young girls (one was 15 years old). Karow lifted his T-shirt to expose his penis. He was captured on CCTV.

Lawyer Shirley Casey said there was no valid reason for Karow’s behaviour.

She said Karow was mortified by his behaviour and acknowledged it was highly inappropriate.

She said Karow had been stressed after an argument with his partner prior to the incidents in March.

Karow had been referred to a psychologist.

Ms Casey said Karow was the manager at a family farm facility and was worried he would lose his job.

Magistrate Anne Longden told Karow what he did was really awful for the people who were subjected to it.

“You got some sort of thrill out of it, to the point where you repeated the behaviour,” she said.

Karow was placed on a 12-month community based order.
