A MAN has been killed in a car crash after a driver crossed to the wrong side of South Western Highway and collided with a pole.

The 26-year-old man was the front seat passenger in a Kia Rio which was travelling north.

Police said the car entered Waroona and veered to the incorrect side of the carriageway, before crashing into a light pole.

The passenger suffered serious injuries and died at the scene while the 30-year-old woman who was driving the car sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Officers are appealing for dashcam footage or witnesses to the accident, which happened at around 3.53pm on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for WA Police said major crash officers are investigating.

“Major Crash officers are seeking witnesses who may have seen the Kia Rio in the area prior to the crash, or who have dashcam footage, to call Crime Stoppers,” she added.

Witnesses are asked to call police on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
