Man on child sex charges appears in court

A COODANUP man allegedly involved in a child sex ring appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court this morning.

Mark Wesley Liggins (47) was charged with two counts of intending to expose a person believed to be under 13-years-old to indecent matter; two counts of intending to procure a person believed to be under 13-years-old for sexual activity; possessing child exploitation material; two counts of using electronic communication to expose a child under 16-years-old to indecent matter and three counts of using electronic communication with intent to procure a person, under the age of 16-years, to engage in sexual activity.

He was also charged with possessing cannabis and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Last week police charged eight men from suburbs around WA for an alleged child sex ring involving a 13-year-old girl.

Police claim the girl�s father used the girl as a sex slave, meeting the men from around the State.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad laid 503 charges on the men, as a result of Operation Ripstop, acting on a tip-off from a member of the public.

Mr Liggins was released on bail to make a legal aid application.

He is due back in court in four weeks.
