Man punched mother over alleged stealing incident in Coondanup

The 20-year-old, man who cannot be named to protect his victim, was visiting his mother in Coodanup on August 15 when they became involved in an argument, according to the police prosecutor.

She said the man’s mother took his phone outside and he followed her.

During their argument he pushed his mother to the ground and punched her in the head.

She sustained bruising and swelling.

Counsel for the man said the woman is a methamphetamine user and the man was scared she would sell his phone.

She said the man’s mother bit him during the argument.

He was placed on a 12-month supervision order with program and supervision requirements.

He was also ordered to pay $88 in costs.
