ADVENTURE is travelling far and wide this year as Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO) takes delivery of new merchandise.

Chief executive Karen Priest said the branded cooler bags, pens, picnic rugs and recyclable tote bags would be used at travel shows and as welcome gifts for significant agents and media visiting the region.

Ms Priest said the return on investment of the style of merchandise as part of an overarching tourism marketing and PR strategy was well established.

“This is the first time MAPTO has had the chance to use such collateral in our strategy and we believe it is essential to include merchandise to benchmark against other local tourism organisations,” she said.

“We are attending more trade and consumer shows than previously – in fact we have three major events booked to attend in the next few months – and the merchandise boosts the profile of the Peel Region and keeps us top-of-mind for recipients when they are promoting and selling destinations to their own clients.”

MAPTO attended Australia’s biggest business travel expo, The Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo this month, and will follow up at the Perth Caravan and Camping Show and the South East Asia Experience Perth road show in the key source markets of Malaysia and Singapore.
