MANDURAH Baptist College’s Year 10 Drama Enrichment students are feeling honoured to be representing the Bindjareb region in the 2018 Youth on Health Festival grand final this weekend in the drama category by being one of the top eight drama performances in WA.

The 16 students began working on their performance earlier this year, knowing they would be competing against other schools around WA for a position in the top eight entries for the grand final.

They created a 20-minute performance, exploring the theme ‘Pushed to the Limit’, and the health message of Act, Belong, Commit.

They wanted to create a powerful piece that explored aspects of mental health that youth are dealing with in society.

The students created a symbolic piece that explores the negative voices inside people’s heads and what can happen when they are allowed to interfere with thinking.

This performance challenges the audience to think about their own negative voice and how that voice can impact them in their everyday lives.

The students have been rehearsing and refining their pieces, working together and using the power of the arts to educate and entertain the community.
