ATTENDANCE numbers were slightly down at this year’s Mandurah Boat Show, despite the beautiful spring weather.

Premiere Events managing director Peter Wood said more than 16,000 attended the event from Friday to Sunday.

“A lot of people must have been enjoying the warm weather out on their boats,” he said.

Mr Wood said this year’s show was a lot more interactive, which proved popular with the crowds.

“About 400 kids learnt how to sail with the Little Tackers program,” he said.

“The stand-up paddle boards were also popular.

“The Mercury Experience was also a hit, with people going out on the outboards non-stop throughout the show.”

Mr Wood said teenage boys teaching people to fish was a great way of getting kids off their iPads.

“About 500 people also enjoyed the Land Rover experience on the ramps,” he said.

“There were also lots of boats sold.”
