RISING young chefs Jason Scott from South Yunderup and Hayden Bilton from Greenfields won gold medals in the 2016 Nestles Golden Chef’s Hat Award.
Scott works at Sandalford and Bilton at Mandurah’s Red Manna Restaurant.
But the winning team, who will represent WA in the national finals in Melbourne in September, was Pearsall’s Cherise Davids (23) and Leeming’s Angela Fairfield (20).
Davids (chef de partie at Royal on the Waterfront) and Fairfield (apprentice chef at Modo Mio, Crown Perth) out-cooked some of the region’s best young chefs, cementing their place in Australia’s longest running culinary competition.
