Mandurah council workers make citizen’s arrest after man allegedly delayed traffic, destroyed plants

MANDURAH council workers did their bit to combat the “lazy council worker” stereotype when they made a citizen’s arrest yesterday.

A police media spokesman said a man has been charged following the incident.

About 3pm, a man allegedly became involved in an altercation with traffic control workers at the roundabout on Old Coast Road and McLarty Road.

Police claim that due to the man’s aggressive nature, the council workers detained him until police arrived.

Several plants were alleged to have been damaged in the process.

Traffic was delayed in the area due to the disturbance.

A 27-year-old man from Parmelia was charged with damage, two counts of disorderly behaviour and obstructing, hindering and resisting a police officer.
