LESLIE and Betty Williams celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 23.

The former Waroona residents now live at Mercy Place Mandurah and still do everything together.

Leslie was 25 and Betty 21 when they married at St Mark’s Church in Waroona and honeymooned in Busselton after an 18-month courtship.

Mr Williams worked in Dowdel Motors, Waroona, and Mrs Williams worked in Russels Tea Room.

“When I finished work I would go to the tea room for a milkshake,’’ Mr Williams said.

“That’s where I caught the eye of my future wife Betty. We became a couple after that and went to all the entertainment on offer in Waroona.

“We weren’t much good at dancing but we gave it a go and stepped on each other’s toes a lot.”
