Staff writerMandurah Coastal Times

A MAN who rode a motorcycle 165kmh in a 90kmh zone was fined $1800 when he appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court today.

Neil Adrian Barnes (50) pleaded guilty to reckless driving by exceeding the speed limit by 45kmh or more.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Tamara Read said Barnes rode a motorbike 165kmh on Del Park Road in Marrinup on September 9.

The defence lawyer said Barnes was riding his 1000cc motorbike in the countryside with friends. He said it was a rural area and there was no traffic.

Barnes did not mean to speed, he did not realise he was going so quick.

The lawyer said Barnes was going to get rid of the motorbike.

Barnes’ licence was disqualified for six months.
