Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation chief executive Karen Priest said the significant wins heralded a new, mature era in tourism.

“These awards represent fantastic wins after often years of hard work and I believe they highlight a new maturity in our tourism offering and that we are entering a new era in tourism in the Peel region,” she said.

“So many people at Saturday’s awards event mentioned to me they had noted Mandurah’s rise and how awareness of tourism developments, assets and infrastructure in the Peel region seems to be at an all time high.

“The planning, perseverance and unique hospitality style of our region is being noticed and is now paying dividends.

“MAPTO will ensure we promote these wins to each of our target audiences.

“To medal at the WA Tourism Awards is very significant, but to bring home gold in these highly competitive categories is an extraordinary accomplishment for Seashells Mandurah and City of Mandurah and we commend them on these major awards.”

Seashells Hospitality Group managing director Paul King said the win was a fantastic achievement for the property and the Seashells Mandurah team.

“Seashells Mandurah has become our flagship property, and it is looking and performing better than ever, due in no small part to a strong and talented hospitality team lead by general manager Ben Chenery.

“Having won silver in this category last year, winning gold is extra special,” he said.

“Mandurah and Peel offer so much variety as holiday and business tourism destinations and I believe this is a win for the region as much as it is the property.”

Many guests use Seashells Mandurah as a gateway to exploring the South West, or simply to spend time getting back to what counts – time on the beach, watching dolphins play, fishing with the kids, or a spectacular sunset.

The 2016 WA Tourism Awards win adds to Seashells Mandurah’s list of accolades.

It was inducted into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame in 2015 for winning five consecutive Certificates of Excellence.

The property has previously won the Deluxe Accommodation category at the 2008 WA Tourism Awards, Best New Tourism Development in the 2006 WA Tourism Awards and a High Commendation at the 2006 National Tourism Awards.
