Mandurah dolphin sustains excessive sunburn injuries

Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

A MANDURAH dolphin has sustained excessive sunburn. The adult female dolphin called Frill most likely became stranded some time last week. Frill was first observed with the wounds in the Peel-Inlet by Mandurah Dolphin Rescue Group members. Group members will keep a watchful eye on her and anticipate a full recovery. Other Peel-Harvey resident dolphins have suffered similar burns in the past and are now thriving. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have been notified of Frill’s injuries. Residents should call the Wildcare helpline on 9474 9055 if they see a dolphin stranded or in distress.
