PREMIER Colin Barnett officially launched the $350 million redevelopment of Mandurah Forum Shopping Centre today.

Mandurah Forum will almost double in size to become a contemporary retail, dining and entertainment destination.

Over the past 10 years, Mandurah has grown to 117,000 people, predicted to rise to 171,000 by 2028, and the redevelopment will create a new retail heart for the growing population.

The new centre will be anchored by David Jones, Target, Big W, Kmart, Woolworths and Coles along with 220 specialty retailers and five new mini-major retailers.

Delivering a total one-stop shopping experience, the new Mandurah Forum will offer premium and fashion-forward brands, the best of everyday fashion, a food market hall offering fresh foods and convenience and a place to dine.

Key features will also include an alfresco dining precinct with indoor and outdoor cafes and restaurants designed around a water oasis, a food court offering a fresh, new approach to food court dining and an indoor and outdoor play area for children.

It will create an estimated 1000 jobs during construction and more than 700 ongoing retail jobs.

Construction is due to start mid-year with completion in 2018.
