BITING winds and the threat of rain did not stop a good crowd from supporting the third Homeless Awareness Week event on the eastern foreshore on Thursday.

Organisations involved included Rockingham Regional Arts Centre, Peel Community Kitchen, Peel Volunteer Resource Centre, West Aus Crisis and Welfare Services, Palmerston, St Vincent de Paul and GP down South.

Everything , including clothes, bed linen, bacon and egg sandwiches, fruit, desserts, coffee and beanies, were free or for a gold coin donation.

There was also a photographic display – earlier this year 20 homeless people were given disposable cameras and captured rare and moving glimpses of experiencing homelessness in Mandurah.
