THE 2019 Mandurah Junior Council graduated on Thursday at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club.

A ceremony was held for the 38 Year 6 students from 19 primary schools across Mandurah.

The purpose of Junior Council is for young people to learn about governance and leadership.

Their main achievements for the year was the successful delivery of the educational plastics in waterways project.

The group ran a stall at the Mandurah Children’s Festival educating children and parents about the impacts of plastics in waterways through interactive activities.

They also partnered with Coastal Waste Warriors to deliver a community beach clean up on November 3.

At the graduation, each Junior Councillor gave a short speech reflecting on their time in the Junior Council.
