A MANDURAH man has come forward to claim his division one prize worth $674,052.

The winning Saturday Lotto ticket was sold by Nextra Forum West Newsagency at the weekend.

Nextra employee Michaela Jones said the older man was “calm, but excited” when he visited the newsagency.

“His is a regular customer of nine years,” she said.

“He told us he would like to help his children, who are building houses.”

There have been 19 division one winners in WA this year.

The high number of wins means at least one WA player has won division one in every Saturday Lotto draw this year.

Nextra Forum West Newsagency’s store owner Glenn Cornish said this is the stores’ third division one win in two years.

“After our last lot of big wins things quietened down but the wheel has reached the top of the cycle again so now’s the time to get a winning ticket,” he said.

“Lots of customers have been talking about the lucky streak and they’re really happy to know someone local has won it this time.”

“Everyone’s really excited and I can’t wait to crack open the champagne.”

Last financial year $283 million was given to the WA community via Lotterywest grants.

The City of Mandurah was given $84,523 in January towards the construction of a boardwalk along the St Ives walking trail.
