THE Mandurah Magic women are knocking on the top four’s door after a 13-point win over the Perry Lakes Hawks.
Playing at home for the round 16 match, the Magic recorded a comfortable 73-60 win on the back of a game-high 24 point effort from Taylor Brown.
Teammates Rachel Halleen (16 points) and Casey Mihovilovich (15) also contributed strongly in the paint as the team recorded their 11th win of the season.
They now sit just behind the 4th placed Joondalup Wolves on percentage with four rounds to go.
The Magic men were not so successful, going down to the Hawks 100-84.
Marvin Smith proved hard to handle under the basket with 27 points, while Travis Durnin achieved a double-double by sinking 20 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.
However their effort was no match for the Shawn Redhage-led Hawks with the former Perth Wildcat dropping 24 points while current Wildcat big man Clint Steindl had 13 points of his own.
The loss keeps the team in 13th place on the SBL ladder.
In round 17 action Mandurah Magic will host the Rockingham Flames on Friday, July 5.
