Mandurah: man charged over fire that destroyed Cash Converters store

A 46-YEAR-OLD man has been charged following an investigation into a fire that destroyed Cash Converters in Dower Street, Mandurah last September.

The cost of the damage to the building was about $1.9 million.

Arson squad detectives charged than man of no fixed address with breach of duty and attempted burglary.

Police alleged the fire started because of the man using an angle grinder to gain entry to the building.

Just after 5am on September 21, police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called to reports of a fire at a commercial premise on Dower Street.

The man is due before the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 8.
