A TEENAGER diving south of Mandurah claims he struck a shark on the nose today, according to Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA).

The 14-year-old boy reported the incident to SLSWA about 5.30pm.

They said he was free diving about 10m offshore at Avalon Beach when he was approached by a grey nurse shark.

The boy struck the shark on the nose and it swam off, SLSWA continued.

He was not injured during the interaction.
