Mandurah man pleads not guilty to murder of alleged child abuser

A MANDURAH man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a man accused of child sex crimes.

Ernest James Mitchell (43) was charged with the murder of Robert Dalliston in July, last year.

He appeared via video link from Hakea prison and was remanded in custody until he appears again in October.

Mr Mitchell was arrested following a high profile campaign by Major Crime Squad Detectives to catch Mr Dallistons killer.

This campaign led to them interviewing several people and Mr Mitchells arrest.

Mr Dalliston was 69 when he was found dead inside his Ward Street home on January 15, 2009.

He was last seen catching a taxi from the Silver Sands Tavern in Mandurah about 6pm on January 8.

Before his murder, Mr Dalliston was facing 36 charges including sexual penetration and indecent dealings with a child under 13.
