Mandurah: man taken to hospital after Australia Day fight

A MAN sustained a broken nose after a fight in Mandurah on Australia Day.

Police said two men were on the estuary in their boats, with several other people at 6.30pm.

Their boats were tied together while they were celebrating Australia Day.

Police said the two men became involved in a verbal altercation, which then turned physical.

The victim was struck several times to the head and face and suffered a broken nose and swelling to the face.

Police attended the scene.

The 43-year-old victim was taken to Peel Health Campus for treatment to his injuries.

A 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mandurah Police Station to be interviewed.

The investigation is ongoing.
