Mandurah: pair allegedly abandoned two-year-old to escape police

A COUPLE on the run from police left a two-year-old child alone, while they allegedly tried to escape custody this afternoon.

Mandurah Detectives were seeking 34-year-old Edward Norman Walley and 30-year-old Anain Victoria Whitehead.

Police were on patrol in Mandurah, when they saw a man and a woman riding a bicycle on Forrest Street, Mandurah, in the company of a child.

They followed the pair to a house on Forrest Street.

When they spotted, police claim the man and woman ran from the area, leaving the two-year-old boy behind.

The woman was located soon after and identified as Ms Whitehead.

The man she was with was not found and his identity has not been confirmed.

The relationship of the child to the two people on the bicycle will not be released.

Police took the child into their care and appropriate arrangements his ongoing care will be arranged.

Anyone who sees Edward Norman Walley, should not to approach him, and are asked to call police immediately on 131 444.
