Mandurah Performing Arts Centre seeks funding

MANDURAH Performing Arts Centre has requested $80,000 from the City of Mandurah.

Council received a letter from MPAC asking for additional funding due to a deficit at June 30.

A City of Mandurah report said while ticket and hire sales were rebuilding, the state of the commercial climate remained tight.

“The organisation is reviewing budget models, financial systems, processes and risk management as a result of their performance for the financial year ended June 30 2019 and expect to return to a surplus position in the 2019/2020 financial year,” the report said.

The extra $80,000 for MPAC was not set accounted for in the 2019/2020 Adopted Budget and will require a Council resolution to approve a budget variation.

Councillors are expected to consider the request at Tuesday night’s council meeting.

The council report recommends providing the extra funding. The $80,000 will be re-allocated from money saved in financial services subscriptions and financial accounting salaries.
