Mandurah police claim man threw bar stool, punched security guard

POLICE have charged a man from Wannanup after several incidents along Mandurah Terrace on Saturday, November 24.

The man was walking along Mandurah Terrace at 11.20pm and police claim he picked up a shop sign and threw it onto the road, causing damage to a passing vehicle.

Two security officers observed the incident and approached the man.

It will be further alleged the man became physically aggressive and punched one of the guards in the face, causing swelling.

The man went to a nearby licensed premises with several friends, and when the security guards followed him, it will be alleged he threw a bar stool at them, striking one of the guards causing minor injuries.

The man then left the area.

Mandurah Detectives investigated and charged a 22-year-old man from Wannanup with two counts of assaulting a public officer and unlawful damage.

The man is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday, January 4.
