MANDURAH Primary School held a Celebration of Culture today.

Principal Natasha Upcott told pupils it was 10 years since then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd gave a national apology to indigenous people.

She said it had been a significant event for the stolen generation.

The Celebration of Culture event featured a Welcome to Country opening the school assembly.

Students watched a fire lighting smoke ceremony and enjoyed listening to the didgeridoo.

Students placed paper feet under the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander flags.

Teachers had their face painted and took part in traditional dancing.

The event also celebrated a partnership between Mandurah Primary School and Foundation for Indigenous Sustainable Health.
