Mandurah Street Chaplains looking for more volunteers

MANDURAH Street Chaplains are looking for more volunteers to join the team.

The team is a not-for-profit, non-denominational Christian organisation run by local volunteers.

Working with police, businesses and council, volunteers patrol local streets offering care, safety, conversation and first aid to patrons, ensuring everyone gets home safely.

Volunteers are out on Fridays and Saturdays between 10.30pm and 3.30am.

They wear purple and yellow uniforms.

New director Karen Jarvis said team members came from all walks of life and had varied skills and experiences, from counselling to drug and alcohol management.

Mandurah Street Chaplains run training courses two to three times a year.

“If patrolling doesn’t suit you, then not to worry as your skills can be used elsewhere,” Ms Jarvis said.
