People should have a fantastic time on Australia Day.

It is a family time and we expect people to enjoy themselves and celebrate.

But people need to consider others.

We ask people to drink responsibly whether they are at home, at a licensed premises or on a boat.

There will be plenty of police patrolling public areas on Australia Day.

They will be a visible presence at parks, the beach and water police will be patrolling the waterways.

We would like to remind people that it is an offence to drink in public and doing so can lead to infringements.

It is also an offence to drink and drive, and people should expect to be stopped and breathalysed.

We would like to remind people that there are no fireworks at the foreshore on Australia Day night.
