AN Australian war veteran had his military medals stolen while visiting Mandurah for a funeral.

The medals were taken from his car overnight in central Mandurah.

Unfortunately police do not have any photos of the medals, but they were mounted and inside a box.

The victim is in his 50s and does not live in Mandurah.

The medals are believed to be national service medals.

Sergeant Lloyd Ellis said the victim was not able to wear the medals to a military funeral this morning.

Other cars were broken into at the same time and cash was stolen.
