Mandurah: woman freed from car after another crash at notorious intersection

A WOMAN had to be freed from her car today after an accident at the notorious Old Coast Road and Mandurah Road intersection.

St John Ambulance took the woman, in her 70s, to Peel Health Campus with minor injuries.

Two cars collided before 1pm, trapping the woman in her car.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to free her.

This was the fourth accident recorded at the lights since they were installed in early July.

Main Roads WA expected low severity crashes to increase at the lights after they were installed, but for severe traumatic crashes to reduce.

Before the lights were installed, 27 crashes occurred at the intersection in a five-year period ending in December 2015.
