MANDURAH young gun Keigan Williams is a national record breaking sporting shooter – but his biggest achievement will be representing WA at the Target Rifle Australia (TRA) Competition.
The 16-year-old said he would train once a day for an hour, everyday, in the lead up to the national competition in Brisbane this month.
“Shooting at nationals is a big achievement because it will be my first TRA competition,” Williams said.

READ NOWThe Year 11 student, who was born and bred in South Africa, moved to Mandurah with his family in 2008.
He said shooting on a farm in South Africa with his uncle sparked his interest in the niche sport.
“When I was 14 I played rugby and hurt my knees so I was out for a season and it was after this I took up shooting,” he said.
Williams, who has trained in sports shooting for four years, is part of the Port Bouvard Pistol and Small Bore Rifle Club and the Subiaco Smallbore Rifle Club.
He said he would compete with the clubs at both state and national levels.
In early June, William’s broke an open and junior Australian record at the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) WA State Air Rifle competition and shot a perfect score.
“I shot a perfect score in the prone position of the 10 metre 3-Positional discipline,” he said.
“I scored 200.20 and broke the national senior indoor record which was previously held at 200.18,” he said.
As a result, Williams was crowned Junior and Open 3P Air Rifle state champion, Junior 10m Precision state champion and 2 Gun Open and Junior state champion.
The teenage prodigy also set six new Australian records and 11 new state records.
“I want to pursue sports shooting professionally and aim to qualify for the Olympic team in the next few years,” Williams said.
