Doug Baker worked for the City of Mandurah for 10 years as a concreter and in 2010 decided to form a business.
He started Placid Waters Concrete and hoped a family member would carry on in his retirement.
Unfortunately, succession planning was brought forward due to an accident which made it impossible for Mr Baker to participate in the physical aspects of the company.

READ NOWMr Baker’s sons Greg and Johno took over the physical part of the business and kept things afloat.
“It was difficult to relinquish control earlier than expected,” Mr Baker said.
“It was something I had worked my entire life to attain. However, the knowledge that the company will move forward with family members is a comfort.”
Mr Baker was proud his sons had stepped up to the plate.
