Mandurah’s unemployment rate improves

THE unemployment rate in Mandurah is in decline, but it is still higher than the WA and national average.

In the 2019 March quarter, the unemployment rate in the City of Mandurah was 6.68 per cent. There were 2591 people who were unemployed.

This figure was down from 7.75 per cent recorded in the March quarter last year and 10.91 per cent at the same time in 2017.

According to the City of Mandurah’s website, unemployment is an important indicator of the economic success of an area. A high rate can indicate a declining economy with closures of key industries, or a residential area with a significantly disadvantaged population.
