Mariners Cove: boats damaged by fire

PEEL Water Police and the Arson Squad are investigating suspicious boat fires at Mariners Cove.

Just after midnight this morning , police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended the jetty on Darwin Terrace where several leisure boats were on fire.

The fire spread to two other boats causing considerable amount of damage. DFES personnel extinguished the fire.

Two of the three boats were destroyed, one boat sustained damage to its covers and seating. The jetty was also damaged by the fire.

DFES has estimated the fire damage to be more than $750,000.

Inquiries are continuing.
