Marlin found at a Mandurah beach yesterday

Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

BROCK Day was fishing at a beach in San Remo yesterday and captured video footage of a black Marlin close to shore.

“I kept seeing a big fin coming near my whole mulie but thought it was a dolphin so kept bringing my line in,” he said.

“Then half an hour later the surf life rescue were in the water helping the ‘dolphin’… but turns out it was not a dolphin at all; it was a marlin fin not a dolphin fin.”

Mr Day said the marlin was in front of the San Remo Surf Life Saving building and lifeguards came to help it.

“They didn’t say anything; just got it back out to sea,” Mr Day said.

“It swam off out of site but dunno (sic) if it will survive.”
