Men charged over assault of 70yo market stall operator

POLICE have charged two men who allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old market stall operator in Mandurah on Saturday morning.

The grandfather was setting up his fruit and vegetables stall in the Smart Street Mall when it’s alleged about 4am, two men approached him and began to throw fruit and vegetables at his stall.

It is also alleged a piece of fruit thrown at the victim struck him to his face causing facial injuries.

Mandurah Police have charged a 19-year-old from Secret Harbour with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, stealing and behaving in a disorderly manner in a public place.

He will appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on July 5.

A 20-year-old man from Port Kennedy will also be charged with similar offences by summons and he will appear in court at a later date.
