Earlier this year Kellie Lindsay moved from Hawkesbury, which is in the vicinity of the fire affected areas.

‘We have many friends and family who have been impacted in one way or another by these devastating fires,’ she said.

‘I have been receiving many pictures and updates from friends and groups on Facebook regarding the devastation in the area and it’s just really awful and upsetting.

‘It is not a very nice feeling when you are so far away.

‘If we were still living in the area, we would be helping via donations etc and assisting in any way that we could, so I thought it would be nice to do something similar from here.’

Mrs Lindsay said there was a good community spirit in Mandurah and she hoped people would support fire victims.

‘Ideally, we would like to collect clothing and linen in good condition, new toiletry items, cleaning items, toys, colouring books and pencils,’ she said.

‘Monetary donations should be directed to the Salvation Army or Red Cross.’

Mrs Lindsay is also considering collecting Coles gift cards to send to victims.
