Murray’s newest MMA influenced youth program kicks off at Murray Leisure Centre.

MURRAY’S newest youth program beginners mixed martial arts, designed to promote self-discipline and focus, kicked off at Murray Leisure Centre last month.

Next Generation Mixed Martial Arts and the Shire of Murray have partnered to host the program geared towards 11 to 16 year olds.

According to Shire of Murray president David Bolt, regular physical activity, provides enjoyment, social interaction and community engagement opportunities for youth.

“Advances in self-confidence and self-respect will realise an improvement in participant’s social skills and peer group integration,’’ he said.

“The program further helps participants develop the knowledge, attitude and skills required to maintain a physically active lifestyle and contributes to mental health.’’

The free program will run every Friday during school terms from 3.45pm to 4.45pm.

Participants should wear suitable footwear, a mouth guard and take a water bottle.
