Nambeelup: Site chosen for a new $18 million Bushfire Centre of Excellence

A first of its kind, the Bushfire Centre of Excellence is one step closer with the announcement of a site in the Shire of Murray.

The establishment of the centre, a key opportunity identified in the Waroona Bushfire Special Inquiry, will further enhance the training and bushfire management practices for fire fighters across WA.

It will include areas for exercising incident management teams and incident control centre personnel, outdoor training spaces, secure storage, training rooms and office space.

“Our volunteer and career fire fighters work under extremely challenging conditions,’’ he said.

“The centre will strengthen WA’s emergency services, provide additional support and training to those on the ground and help improve community safety.
