No thought given to risks involved

XL Martial Arts Academy owner Eric Jensen compared the fights to one child committing child abuse on another child.

‘The combat sports commission in Western Australia has rules for fights,’ he said. ‘The doctor, trainer, referee, fighter and combat sports commission can all stop the fight at any time.

‘They can do this if the fighter is hurt or at the risk of getting hurt.’

Mr Jensen said the children in these fights did not have the experience or control to make those choices.

‘These kids are trying to hurt each other with no thought to risks,’ he said.

‘If they are so keen to fight, several Muay Thai and boxing clubs are available in the Peel area, but I doubt they have the discipline to train for the real thing.’
