AN after-school educator says she was humbled to scoop a national award.

Sandra Gay, of North Yunderup, was announced as the winner of Camp Australia’s national co-ordinator of the year award earlier this month.

She has been based at Aubin Grove Primary School since 2015.

“Winning co-ordinator of the year is both humbling and rewarding,” she said.

“It is lovely that all the hard work, effort and enthusiasm of my team and myself is recognised. No one wins an award like this alone. It takes a dedicated team of enthusiastic people working in unison to achieve these results.”

Ms Gay said she had loved her time at Aubin Grove.

“It is a pleasure to work here in such a lovely environment,” she said.

“There are few jobs where you can laugh your way through your shifts.

“Seeing the children having so much fun and not wanting to leave in the afternoon is a very rewarding experience.”
