Oakwood PS foundation students and staff immortalised

OAKWOOD Primary School’s inaugural group of staff and students will be immortalised for years to come thanks to a special project.

A foundation tree art project has taken pride of place at the heart of the school campus, with each of the tree’s colourful leaves depicting the name of an inaugural student, staff member or family.

P&C executive Chris Simons said the tree took pride of place as a backdrop to assemblies.

“Commemorating our foundation year this way is definitely something the P&C and the school considered very important,” she said.

“Our school vision, ‘children are the heart of our school’, is very important to us and we wanted to give our students a chance to see their name up in lights so to speak.

“We absolutely hope the students love seeing their names on the tree and I’ve already witnessed kids pointing out their leaves to other kids and staff members which is so lovely to see.

“It’s so great we’ve been able to do something that gives our students the chance to be a part of Oakwood history.”

The school opened its doors in 2018 to pre-primary and kindergarten students before welcoming students up to Year 6 at the beginning of this year.
