PEEL Health Campus will have a completely revamped emergency department after the State Government today revealed a $5 million upgrade.
The investment is in addition to $4.4 million announced in the 2018/19 State Budget.
The new design will improve patient flow, provide greater privacy and create a more pleasant environment in which to work and be treated.
There will be eight new beds in the short stay unit as well as a new fast-track patient zone and a redesigned and refurbished waiting room.
It will also feature new holding bays, designed to offer patients awaiting admission improved privacy and a reconfiguration of the existing triage area to allow patients to see a senior doctor sooner.
City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said the announcement was great news for Mandurah.
“I want to acknowledge the State Government for listening to the community and making this happen,” he said.
“This is a good example of our community and our community leaders working together to achieve an important goal and this is exactly the approach we need to be taking to overcome our challenges and take Mandurah forward.”
