Peel Thunder team raise $15,163 for Ronald McDonald House

PEEL Thunder Football Club raised $15,163 in the Up All Night fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Perth.

The team of seven finished sixth on the team leader board.

Team members included chief executive John Ditchburn, commercial operations manager Mel Verdoes, membership officer Lisa Hicks, accounts manager Helen Douglas, vice president Renee Hardman and directors Brad Dean and Chris Fairman.

Chief executive John Ditchburn said it was important for the club to continue to connect and deliver social value to the local community.

“Football is a great way to connect people,” he said.

“We are just wrapped with the community support of this fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Perth.”

The fundraiser involved participants walking in a 42km overnight marathon.

The aim of the event was to encourage the local community to walk a night in the shoes of families of seriously ill children who face weeks, months and even years of sleepless nights as their child is treated for serious illness.

By providing a home away from home, Ronald McDonald House helps families stay close together at one of the toughest times in their lives. Last year, RMHC Western Australia provided 13,140 nights of accommodation to 1,087 regional families with a child receiving hospital treatment in Perth.
