PEEL-Harvey Catchment Council has been chosen as the service provider to deliver the Regional Land Partnership Program on behalf of the Federal Government in the Peel-Harvey Region Management Unit until June 2023.

Acting chair Jan Star said the council looked forward to working with the community to deliver natural resource management services for agriculture and the environment in the catchment on behalf of the Federal Government.

“This is a new competitive approach, away from the grants model our community has been accustomed to in which the Federal Government is ‘purchasing’ the delivery of specific NRM services through PHCC.

“We now look forward to negotiating work orders for projects with the Australian Government.

“These projects will enable continued community and stakeholder engagement for action in the Peel-Harvey that meets Australian Government objectives for Ramsar wetlands, threatened species and communities, soil, biodiversity and vegetation and agriculture systems.”

Ms Star said it was an important role to deliver environmental and agricultural outcomes over the next five years on behalf of the Australian Government as part of the National Landcare Program phase 2 which was “full steam ahead” with 47 organisations across Australia chosen to deliver the regional Land Partnership Program.
