Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

A MAN (32) was assaulted when he thought police officers pulled him over on South Western Highway, Pinjarra on Tuesday.

Mandurah Detectives said the man was travelling in his 1981 Ford Fairlane south at 10.30pm when he noticed a vehicle travelling behind him.

The vehicle then turned on flashing red and blue lights, and believing it to be a police vehicle, the man pulled over.

Two men then got out of the car and approached the victim’s car window.

A conversation occurred between the men and the victim, with the victim believing the men were police officers.

He was then ordered from the car, before being assaulted.

The man managed to break free from the two, and then drove off in his vehicle.

The men’s car was described as a Ford Falcon and appeared to be an unmarked police vehicle. One of the men was described as tanned, with possible facial hair, a solid build and about 185cm tall. He was wearing a shirt (possibly white or blue) and trousers (possibly black or blue).

During the incident, the victim received lacerations and bruising.
